What is the best temperature for roasting carrots?

The best way to cook vegetables is to cook them on high heat. When you cook the vegetables at a high temperature, the natural sugars caramelize until they are yellow and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For this recipe, we recommend roasting the carrots at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes until tender.

What type of pan should I cook with?

For best results, use a large rimmed baking sheet for baking. When roasting carrots, they should be arranged in a single layer with a small space around each one. This allows air to circulate around them so they brown properly. Overcrowding the carrots will cause them to steam rather than roasting.

  •  1 ½ pounds carrots, sliced 1/4 inch wide on the diagonal
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  •  2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup
  •  ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 teaspoons snipped fresh chives (optional)

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • Combine carrots, butter, maple syrup, salt and pepper in a bowl. Spread individually on a large sheet rimmed and roast, stirring once, until tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle with chives, if desired.

  • Large rimmed baking sheet
